A Firm Decision

Severus loved his wife, so much so that he'd do almost anything for her. Almost. This was not one of those occasions.

He stood grumpily by as Hermione and Jeff, the over-excited puppy of a salesman, talked mattresses.

As long as he could lie down and sleep he didn't much care on what kind of surface it was. He had been a spy, after all. A mattress was a mattress was a mattress, no?

"Come on Severus, try this one." Hermione lay down on a bed in the middle of the store. "It's either this one or that other one."

Severus begrudgingly obliged if only to get out of there and away from the smirking Jeff quicker. The two mattresses he was asked to try seemed the same to him.

After a day of shopping for all kinds of furniture to go in their new house, Severus was feeling decidedly annoyed and not a little bit tired.

When asked for his opinion, Severus half-heartedly admitted one mattress seemed slightly more comfortable than the other.

Hermione smirked and Jeff looked awkward when Hermione said she'd take the second one as customers turned to look at the source of the sudden snores.

Thanks to drakien for the prompt of mattress shopping.
