Strange, her gold eyes. Glistening and piercing, just like jewels.

But they could see through him. Through the mask, through the lies, through everything.

Occasionally her gold eyes show pity, though, once she realizes what's going on, what he's been through. So, on those occasions, her hand will gently touch his cheek, and his red eyes meet her gems. That one look – when her eyes meet his – can make him forget everything. Where he is, what he is, what he's doing, and everything seems to make sense. He's here, with her.

So, once, just once, he lets her fingers gently remove the mask, revealing himself. A taboo, for a Sheikah to reveal his face before completing training, but he doesn't care. Times have changed, he will never become a man in Sheikah terms. So he lets her see his face.

She stares at him with those gold eyes, pondering as she sees his face for the first time. Is it what she expected? He can't tell. But she's interested. Gently she sets her fingertips on his bare chin and her eyes come back up to meet his. In a moment of weakness, or possibly strength, he lets her lean in and place her lips against his.

Only she can remove the mask, see through all its barriers. She understands what it hides and why it's hidden and why his eyes are so cold. Yet, for her, those eyes will melt and show their true feelings.

He's a kind, protective young man who's in way over his head, but only she knows that. Only she can see through the disguise.
