Disclaimer: I don't own anything. Josh Schwartz owns everything The O.C.. Including Seth. The bastard!
Summary: Comfort is relative.
Rating/Set: Rated PG/G, set Pre-Pilot. Gen.
A/N: Ah. Yet another short drabble. And my drabbles are getting shorter. Eventually, I will only write the one word, and that will be that.
---
Seth had always found the ocean comforting. Not that he wasn't aware of its dangers- he could recognize potential harm anywhere, be it a large mass of moody water or the hallways of his high school. But in the sea of fish and waves, he could be alone without being lonely, and he could be himself without being judged. He found that comforting.
Marissa had always found music comforting. She could change it to suit her mood and no one would know what lyrics exactly she was relating to on any particular day. As long as no one could hear her, could hear the music, she was safe, and she could feel anything she wanted to. She found that comforting.
Summer had always found shopping comforting. A new pair of strappy Jimmy Choo's brought a smile to her face. Finding the perfect pair was easy sometimes, hard others, but it was always met with earnest glee. She didn't need to take prescription pills to feel that way. She found that comforting.
Ryan didn't know comfort. He knew how to deal with a drunken mother at three am since he was eight, he knew how to duck a blow to his face since he was ten, and he knew how long exactly a bruise would heal depending on how hard he'd been hit and where. He didn't know comfort, but he wanted to.
