Disclaimer: If I owned Harry Potter, would I be babysitting to earn enough money for music downloads? No, I would be traveling the world and I would never work a day in my life ever again, so, no, Harry Potter is not mine.
Authors Note: So, I always imagined Harry calling Mr. and Mrs. Weasley Mum and Dad after he and Ginny got married since a lot of people call their in-laws Mom and Dad and well, he doesn't have parents of his own and they're the closest thing that he's ever had to parents and Molly says that Harry's as good as her son.
"Um, Dad? Could I have a word with you?" Harry looked nervously up at Arthur Weasley.
"Sure," Arthur said standing up from the couch. He and Harry left the room unnoticed by everyone else who were chattering excitedly with Ginny and Molly.
"I can't tell you how scared I am," Harry said immediately after Arthur closed the door.
"Ah, so that's what this is about," Arthur said understanding.
"I mean, I can't tell you how excited I am," Harry began.
"You don't need to," Arthur said smiling. "I've been there. Six times in fact."
"But…..what if I'm a terrible father? What if he doesn't like me? And then just yesterday Ginny mentioned having more children, which sounds great, but…."
Arthur cut in, "Harry, let me tell you something." Harry took a deep breath and he sat down. "I was only seventeen when Molly told me that she was pregnant with Bill."
"Wait seventeen?"
"We snuck off from a Hogsmeade trip once and eloped immediately after I turned seventeen," Arthur said as though it was no big deal, but Harry still looked like he wanted to continue that conversation. "Anyway, we hadn't even finished Hogwarts yet. I was seventeen. I had no money. I didn't even have a job yet. I was absolutely terrified. But you know what, it turned out okay."
"But I don't even know what to do. I don't know what I father's supposed to act like. I can't talk about it with Ginny and…."
Arthur cut Harry off again. "Harry, you're going to be an amazing father. No one really knows what to do, but in the end, you find yourself talking to your son-in-law who is going through the same things that you were several years ago. Harry, I'll bet you anything that in twenty, twenty-five years, you'll be having the same conversation with your son or son-in-law."
"It's a boy."
"I know. But neither of us know what your second or third child is going to be," Arthur said smiling. Twenty-three years later, Harry gave James the same advice.
