Prologue
Darth Vader stood on the bridge of his Star Destroyer, The Executor. "We found something, Admiral," Captain Piett said nervously to Admiral Ozzel in the same room as the Dark Lord. "Yes, Captain?" The admiral was surprisingly calm, even around Vader. "The report we have is only a fragment, from a probe droid in the Hoth system. But it's the best lead we've had in-" "We have had thousands of probe droids searching the galaxy," Ozzel broke in angrily. "I want proof, not leads. I don't intend to continue to chase around from one side of-" Darth Vader walked towards them. "You found something?" he asked. Piett stared at Vader with respect. "Yes, sir," Piett said slowly. He didn't want this to be his last conversation, so he chose his words carefully. "We have visuals. The system is supposed to be devoid of human forms…" But Vader wasn't listening anymore. He was looking at the image on a viewscreen-an image of Rebel snowspeeders speeding along Hoth's snowy wasteland. "That's it," Vader boomed. "My lord," Admiral Ozzel argued, "there are so many uncharted settlements. It could be smugglers-" "That is the one!" Vader insisted, clenching a fist. "And Skywalker is with them. Bring in the patrol ships, Admiral, and set your course for the Hoth system."
At this point I haven't changed any events. THE ONLY THING I COPIED FROM THE BOOK WAS THE ACTUAL SPEECH SO DON'T ACCUSE ME OF LIBEL!
