Summary: Whatever Jareth was, it was not human, and never would be. His attitude toward said humans was less than respectful, and one slipped line revealed it. Just as well Sara didn't hear . . . JS

Word count: 119

Just as Well

She hadn't heard, just as well

She'd been too busy running.

She hadn't heard, just as well

His fatal slip up coming.

She never knew, just as well

Just what it was he'd said.

She never knew, just as well

Hope was not quite dead.

They wouldn't tell, just as well

What his orders were that day.

They wouldn't tell, just as well

What he'd never meant to say.

He's lying now, just as well

His feelings were made quite clear

He's lying now, just as well

But it's only to himself . . .

She never would, just as well

He'd killed their chance to fit.

She'd never come, just as well

Take the babe and hide it . . .

I know the line doesn't rhyme; it's not supposed to. Basically, this is set a bit after the movie, the exact time doesn't matter. Jareth had some feelings for Sara, but screwed up. Obviously, being the narcissistic perfectionist that he is, it bugs him even though no one else noticed.

Review, please, and thank you!
