At first Bella found him amusing, in the cute sense that he seemed intrigued by her some what boring life.
The amusement faded off and real companionship fluttered the day Edward left, leaving a shell of what she used to be. With not much hope and a lot of care, her friend pulled her from the cold desolate place her heart had been left to and brought warmth in her life.
Edward returned and her world seemed to explode with joy though her heart still ached when her friend stayed away.
Things changed, her heart still ached and the feeling seemed mutual on the other side of the world, in the territory of werewolves. She reached and he grasped what she extended.
Reconciliation.
Again, her heart sang with happiness. But life never went the way one wanted and soon the pain came to knock down that wall of hope and tore away her friend once more.
And again, a hole shot through her still healing heart, ripping open a new painful memory.
Eyes glassed over in tears, Bella held the wedding invitation in her shaking hands. Should she extend that hand once more, try and reconcile? It would still be painful no matter what.
A cool white hand grasped the rattling paper and placed it in the mailbox. Bella turned to find Edward gently smiling down at her. "He'll come. That boy is like a complete circle. He'll always come back.."
Nodding, she couldn't stop the tears from falling as her heart ached for her best friend, her kindred spirit.
"Let's go home." Maybe, just maybe Jacob would answer. Even if it was simply to say good bye, she still needed to feel her other half. If only he knew just how much she cared. She truly was a fool.
