Plot:

What if Harry was born mute? No matter what spell was used or what any person around him tried, he never uttered a sound? There is sign language, but in the magic world, such a hindrance may very well be equal on scale to being a squib. After all, what magically powerful child would ever be born mute?

Isolated and treated differently, how will Harry grow and change if his only form of communication is through the telepathic link to Voldemort?

I am unsure as to how this could affect a story. Being born mute and equated to the level of a squib, would any person believe that Harry was the prophesy child? If not, did Voldemort succeed in killing Neville and his parents or only the boy's parents? Would either option have brought him to British control as he hoped or is the war still waging, both sides not able to gain the final and vital upper hand?

This is a very open story and is usually how most of my stories form in my head- barely an idea and become a story with every chapter added without any real plan for the future.

Many questions like "Is Voldemort whole or not?" "If he is, when did he experience the link between Harry and himself?" "Will Harry still have the power to talk to snakes without Voldemort's horcruxes?" "If so than Harry's mother would have to be descended from one of the outcasted squibs from Slyrtherin's line." "If he is, then does he inherit the darkness that lies within him that the blood of his father awakened? Or is he still 'light'?" "Will he inherit the bit of insanity that comes with mixing close relatives like Slytherin's line has done in the past?" WHAT WHAT WHAT!

Spin this however you like with only these few restrictions:

Harry must be intelligent- maybe not a genius (that's up to you) but far more intelligent then most hs age- a mental capacity to impress Voldemort if he were to contact the boy through the link when Harry was still a young boy.
