Another Glee fic! Beta'd by my fantastic roommate, but please excuse any of my mistakes. This was written as a coda to "Home."
Title and summary are from the Boyce Avenue cover of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream. (It's different from the original, so sweet. I definitely recommend listening on youtube.)
Please, read and let me know what you think!
As Mercedes finishes singing, Quinn catches sight of Puck standing off to the side of the large group of students gathered on the basketball court. His hands are jammed in his pockets and he's staring at the floor, clenching his jaw in a way that she has learned means that he feels guilty or sad.
She makes her way slowly through the crowd, one hand curled around her belly, and she throws up a silent prayer to the god she was just starting to believe in again that he wasn't sad. Although guilty wasn't good, she could always just make him apologize to whoever he tossed in the dumpster, call it a day, and go to Dairy Queen.
She smiles at him softly when he finally looks up, just as she's brushing past the last few students between them.
She's barely reached him when he catches her by the hand and pulls her body close to his. He just looks at her for a moment, taking in her face. It's so quick that she almost misses it. But then he pulls her even closer and all of a sudden he's kissing her more passionately than he has in a while.
"Wha-?" she asks breathlessly, confused and smiling.
"You're beautiful," he tells her earnestly, one hand on her hip and one running through the blonde hair resting on her shoulder.
He pulls her closer and Quinn wraps her arms around his waist, pressing her cheek against his chest.
"I should tell you that more often," he says apologetically, brushing his hand down the front of her dress over her baby bump.
She bites her lip, sniffles, tries not to cry. She knew Puck thought she was beautiful. (He's told her on multiple occasions that he doesn't date "uggos.") But she didn't think hearing him actually say the words would mean as much as it did.
He looks down at her and tightens his hold on her.
"You okay?" he asks tenderly.
Quinn just shakes her head dismissively and mutters, "Damn hormones," around a shy laugh.
He looks at her face for another moment, raising an eyebrow. "You sure?"
"I'm sure," she tells him, running her hand over his shoulder as he kisses her cheek.
"Okay," he says, moving away from her and intertwining his hand with hers to lead her out of the gym. "Wanna go to Dairy Queen before we head home?" he asks with a smile.
"Of course," she laughs. Because, really, it's ridiculous that he even had to ask.
Thank you so much for reading! If you liked it, leave a review to let me know!
