I felt the wind rush through my hair. Whip it around my face; it felt good. Even though I was running for my life I was happy to be here; just running.

"Edward! Are they still following us?" I asked.

"I'm not sure," he murmured softly. I knew I shouldn't have been able to hear that, but as a vampire, I had super-sonic hearing, as some people called it.

"Bella don't worry, as long as we're together we'll be safe; and now that you're a vampire you'll be safe no matter what. Don't worry Bella."

"Okay, you're right," I knew he was just trying to distract me but that's okay.

"The house is coming up," he whispered right in my ear. I jumped and fell behind. I started running again, trying to catch up. My ear still tickled from his breath.

"Why are we heading toward the house? We're just going to lead them right to everyone."

"I know, but no one's home so they'll go back there to look for us after a few days and we'll be gone by then." Edward said.

We headed straight for the back of the garage. We saw them head into the house and disappear inside. When they came out they started to head back the way they came. I saw one lean over and murmur, as low as they could, something in the other one's ear. I caught just a word or two of what they said.

"Edward, I heard them say 'coming back', what does that mean? Do you think they'll come back here?"

"Of course they will, and we'll be gone by then. Get in the car and we're going to go leave."

Edward backed out of the garage in his Porsche. I saw the speedometer go up and up until we were driving at 125 mph. I wasn't worried; Edward is a good driver and has good reflexes. Suddenly the phone rang.

"I don't recognize that number," said Edward. "Hello?" he said into the phone.
