Chapter 1:
There's something in the shadows...
The Doctor looked over his shoulder wondering what or who was following him, watching him, stalking him. He recoiled as a young woman came hurtling past him. "Watch the bow-tie!" he muttered as he straightened his dickie bow looking at Clara. "What? Bow-ties are cool."
They slowly drifted towards the large, prominent gates; the reason they landed on Kantuuc. "Here you go Clara, the biggest, greatest adventure lies on the other side of these gates." the Doc said pompously as he patted his chest for the psychic paper... "Well, what's the adventure?" Clara asked impatiently. "It's - urm - its the Zorat race. Wonderful people a little shorter than humans on average, but hey size isn't everything. And they're good cooks, great cooks in fact... Who do You think invented fish and chips?" The Doctor looked around daised and confused as Clara tried to enter.."No" said the short stocky guard, "no enter, have pass - may enter" "well chin boy? Flash your badge."
"I - I can't... I'm sure I put it in this jacket" "silly old Doctor. Come on its fine, we'll go to the TARDIS and you can take me to Pluto." Clara chortled. The Doctor looked around, searching for the girl, for a face he thought he knew... "They're with me" a voice announced, snapping the Doctor back into reality. 'The voice, I know that voice' he thought 'its different... But I'd know it anywhere.. Who is she?!'
The girl held up a little black book and smiled. "welcome ma'am" the stocky guard announced their entry... "thanks!" Clara exclaimed, "see doc? That's how its done" she smirks at him. "But, but, how did you do that?" the Doctor stuttered. The mystery girl pats his chest "simple really... I'm just very good" walking away the girl muttered "I thought there was an awful lot of running to do?"...The Doctor looked at her then felt his chest. 'The psychic paper! She's the girl! And she just said something. Oh god what did she just say?!'
"hey!?" the Doctor shouted at the girl, "wait there!" he rushed over to her, clutching her shoulder. Her brown, curly hair bundling over his hand. Clara, the Doctor and the mystery girl stood for what felt like eternity... "you. I know you.." he stutters over his words; emotion bubbling quickly to the surface. "you really don't" the girl laughed, her brown eyes glimmering reflecting the deep sunlight... "but you can't be... You died" the Doctor announced, his grip tightening on her shoulder. She grimaced. "Doctor, who is she?" Clara quizzes from behind the Doctor. He turns to answer, momentarily loosing his grip. The girl runs; she likes it and she's good at it... "my daughter... I-I think she's my daughter... But she can't be! She died a long time ago! ... Oh how stupid!" the Doctor exclaims slapping his palm to his head. "two hearts! She had two hearts! I bet she regenerated.. Oh! It takes a while the first time. The body needs to prepare.. " "Doctor, you have a daughter? You have a family? I - I don't understand... You're talking nonsense" Clara said talking quietly as though not to disturb the Doctors thought process...
'she probably didn't recognize me, new face and all..' the Doctor reassured himself to the possibility that he was a dad...again. A bittersweet smile spread across his aged face. "Hm" he grumbled, remembering Jenny and the moment he knew, in his hearts that he was no longer the last of his kind. Her heartbeat echoed around him as Clara shook him to reality. "come on Doctor! I'm hungry!" They hurried into the alley Clara oohed and ahhed at the bright coloured foods while the Doctor scratched his head wondering where she was. His daughter.
