"Len, it's me, Rin" she called out to him not expecting a reply, her voice muffled by the pounding of rain on nearby trash cans. Rin wondered if she had went to check on him sooner, would she have been met with the cold lifeless boy that lie at her feet. She knew something was wrong; Len wasn't the kind of guy to take this long to make a quick run to the store downstairs. The pit in her stomach grew as she remembered the carefree Len she once saw at the jump not too long ago, and once the first tear broke free, the rest followed in an unbroken stream, The realization that he'd be gone forever didn't help the growing stream of tears. "Len" She mumbled through her mess of emotions. Rin swallowed. The lump in her throat didn't go away. The alley grew silent for a moment, till the sound of Rins's boot hitting the pavement echoed through the place, and soon she was gone. Rin clenched her fist hard enough that her nails began to dig into her skin, she wanted- no she needed to find someone to help him, Len. Lights from the city street flashed by her as she scanned the street for a cop, her teary eyes blurring her vision slightly, her fist tightening more as she tried her best to prevent the tears from flowing once again. She would save them for the day she would walk down the aisle and proudly say 'I do' to Len and once she found a cop and Len had been taken to the hospital everything would resume on, like it had been before.
Passersby gave the puffy-eyed-girl worried looks, some even speaking up and asking if she was okay, but, during her panic, what really stood out to Rin was a couple around the same age as her. They seemed happy Rin thought before the pair exchanged worried glances.
"excuse me, Miss?" The boy let go of his partners hand and asked again "miss, can we help you" suddenly his apparent girlfriend tugged on his jacket
"Kaito, I have to get home now." she paused "Please" Kaito turned to his girlfriend and nodded "sorry" he said, his words barely audible as he didn't turn back to face Rin. Rin couldn't blame him, he had someone he loved to worry about.
The two left. But Rin just stood frozen on the sidewalk, as the world around her passed by, she stood motionless. Her once tightly clenched fist fell at her side. Everyone around me, she thought everyone seems to know where they're going and what they're going to do next, they all have someone to see, somewhere to be, she wondered why she had been so frozen. Ever since she saw Len's lifeless body, time hadn't seemed real, everything she had ever done and planned with Len-would it even matter anymore? His life was so suddenly taken away.
"Hello, Miss" a large hand held her shoulder. Rin blinked a few times turning her head to notice the officer behind her, Rin's teary eyes widened
"Officer," her voice was weak "Len he needs help." The officer nodded and followed Rin, unsure of what she needed, but it was almost like he could feel her heart breaking more and more with every step.
"He's dead," The cop said, as he rose, his eyes meeting Rin's for a moment before the stream of tears came back. Rin began to cry with the force of a person vomiting on all fours, through the wave of sadness she wondered, what was going to happen next as Len's last chapter was written into her life.
