Author's Note:This is Part 4 of the series of one-shots for Valentine's Day. My friends requested me to write these for a few of their favourite characters, and so...here goes!

Valentine's Day One-Shot entry 4: Byakuya Kuchiki (Bleach)

ISOLATION

You walked along the Division 6 gates, unsure of what to do. It was nearly the end of the day, and you couldn't wait to get home.

"Hey, bitch, whatcha doing?" you heard Renji call out to you. You laughed. "I got more to do than you ever have, you asshole!"

That was the way you addressed each other. You were just too good friends to mind such things. "Hey, hey! I'm the Vice-Captain! You never get more work than I do!"

"Yeah, with that pathetic Captain of ours, I could expect no less." You grumbled. Renji laughed. "You're actually cussing Kuchiki taichou?" Renji knew your long-time crush was none other than the quiet, serious captain of Division Six. Byakuya Kuchiki was well-known for his cold demeanor, but most girls of Soul Society found him attractive. And, you were no exception.

"Does he ever show any emotion? Does he ever really care about anyone? All he knows are rules and rules and work!" you were losing it. Unrequited love can drive people crazy.

Renji looked like he was in deep thought. "I don't know why he never cares about anything other than work! He makes me sick! He acts like he's got some sort of frozen stick shoved up his ass as far as it can get!" you roared, just to stop when you noticed Renji's eyes widen as if he was in mortal peril. "And yes, don't give me the outraged look, 'cuz I don't have that infatuation anymore!" Renji shook his head, as if to tell you to cut it out already.
"What's up with that expression of yours, you bastard? Cat got your ass?" you yelled at him. He was looking behind you, and you followed his line of sight.

Renji's expression did not relax by the time you turned around to look at the face of the Captain himself.

Byakuya Kuchiki stood there with his emotionless expression, and something told you he'd heard everything you'd talked about ever since Renji came out to meet you.

"Umm…is there something you need…Taichou?" you were unsure on how to react.

"Since you do consider me to be uncaring and emotionless, I suggest that you do not leave work today." Byakuya turned to Renji. "You may leave. Your work for today is over."

You and Byakuya were left behind. You didn't dare to face the blue-gray orbs of the Captain whose height towered over you in an intimidating fashion.

"(Y/n), I suggest you should stay up in my office and finish all the remaining paperwork for the next day while I sort a few out myself."

Saying that, he disappeared back into his office.

You felt your spirits rise. If you would just leave out the part of the punishment for your words, and the fact that Byakuya heard about the 'infatuation' part, spending all this alone time with him could be called a date, couldn't it?
