"Emily, Emily, over here!" cried Lily. "I saved you a spot!" Lily and Emily had been friends even since before Severus had told Lily she was a witch. Lily could remember that day like she could remember her ABC's. That was the day that she and Petunia had split. Just thinking about her sister brought tears to her eyes.
"Alright, I'm coming." Emily made her way across the train to her friend Lily.
"Excited for the first day? Mom and I went shopping for dress robes. Diagon Alley is so wonderful, isn't it?" Emily had always been the talking type.
"Yes, yes it is! So, what house do you hope to be in?" Lily replied.
"OH, I have been so busy I haven't even given that a thought. Hmm, let's see, how about, Ravenclaw or Huffelpuffel. This is so confusing. What about you?"
"Oh, haven't really given much thought to that either" Lily replied, although, unlike Emily, that was all she was able to think about. "Yes, well I honestly have no clue.'
Just then, their compartment door flew open. Two girls walked in.
"Can we share a compartment, all the others are full?" the girl with the bouncy hair asked.
"Sure" replied Lily.
Both the girls slid into a seat next to Emily.
"Hi, I'm Maria, and this is my friend Nymphadora, or Dora for short." The girl with the bouncy hair said again, apparently named Maria. The other one looked a bit odd, with an oddly shaped nose and colorful streaks down her hair.
"I'm Lily, and this is Emily. We were just talking about which houses we wanted to be in."
"Ooh! I want to be in a house with lots of cute boys! I don't care which!" said Maria. The girl named Dora just looked out the window.
"And what house do you want to be in?" Lily, quite confused, asked Dora.
"Gryffindor" she replied simply without looking away.
Suddenly, there were red and green jets of light shooting from outside the door. "NO! Stop please!" cried a voice.
Lily wondering what was happening, raced to the door, and pulled it open. There on the floor sat Severus, blood trickling down his face.
"HAHAHAHAHA" cried the four boys in unison. One of them, clearly the leader, had messy black hair, and was very thin. One of the others was short, and gross looking. Another looked odd, with long black hair, and the last seemed to have wolfish like features.
"WHAT IN THE NAME OF MERLIN'S BEARD IS GOING ON?" Lily cried.
"Help, help me Lily" Severus cried. Lily had never seen Severus so badly in need of help.
"You need a healing charm, I can't remember it, oh god, why now?"
"Move aside." A determined voice whispered in her ear. Grudgingly, she moved away so Dora could walk through. She muttered a couple spells and ran her wand over Severus's cut.
Lily, now comforted by the thought that her friend was okay, she stomped over to the boys who had cast the spell. "WHAT, did you think you were doing?"
"Ooooooooo, I'm so scared of yooooooooou" the leader called out, in a mocking tone.
"Yeah? Well we'll see about that!"
A green light shot out from the end of Lily's wand, and then all was quiet.
