Chapter 1: Doctor's Appointment

I was awoken by the silent buzzing of my alarm bracelet. I got up and open the blinds, letting the light from the sun shine on the Pikachu sitting up against the wall with its tail inside the electric adapter. I let the sunlight wake him up as I got dressed. "Morning, Shock, slept well?" I asked. "Pika!" He answered with a nod. I calmly knelt down and pet him, his bristly fur still felt weird against the scar tissue on my palm. "Let's go eat." I said.

"Good morning, dad!" I called out as we came down the stairs. "Janie, you're up already? You do know it's Saturday?" "Ha ha." I answered sarcastically as I grabbed a box of Shock's food and poured it in his bowl. "I've got another doctor's appointment. Could you look after Shock while I'm there, he's been plugged in all night, and I'll be back in about an hour." "Of course, honey" He answered

"That should be enough." Dr. Navalg turned off the treadmill and started unhooking the various cables attached to me. "Please sit." She said and gestured to one of the two chairs in the room. "Could I take a look at your foot?" she asked as she sat down. I removed my right sock and presented her my foot. She poked at the scar "Let me know if this hurts." She said.

After a few more pokes she started writing in a notepad, "Normal coloration, no pain." the doctor mumbled, "There's been no more incidents?" she asked. I was still too out of breath to speak, so I just shook my head. "Any nausea? Headaches? Loss of consciousness?" Dr. Navalg got up, "There seems to be no lasting effects. Our next appointment should be our last." I rose and got my jacket. "Are you planning on applying for a thunderstone next month? It has been eleven months now." She asked before I left. "I'm not sure yet. I've learned to not startle him anymore, but I would have to be extra careful about discharging him so he'll be safe around strangers, I don't think I'm ready for that responsibility yet."
