She smiled. It was a smile known all throughout Fiore, one often displayed in magazines and merchandise. For most, it was something that showed happiness and joy, but to her, it was a whole other story.
Lucy never thought of herself to be the jealous type. Not in the slightest. She never had the thought of being jealous growing up because, what was there to be jealous of? Who was there to be jealous of? Never had Lucy thought that she would have that nasty green monster silently eating away inside of her.
She wasn't jealous of her, oh no. She was jealous of their past. How they would tell her stories about their fun times together and smile, looking off into the distance, reminiscing.
And she wasn't part of it.
The usually bubbly blonde would always just awkwardly smile and tilt her head to the side, waiting for their little moment to be over. Once it would be over though, the white haired mage's smile would turn into a smirk and she would tease the poor dragon slayer, taunting him for being 'a big softie' or 'a blushing mess of a kid'. That would be the time where Natsu would get all flustered and say some other remark in an attempt to defend himself, that would also be the time where Lucy would tiptoe over to the bar to get away.
She loved the take-over mage to death, but sometimes she wished she was part of that too. Part of all their old missions, part of raising Happy, part of building a straw hut. But she knew she couldn't. Even if she could somehow go back through time, she wouldn't dare butt into the relationship those two had. The dragon slayer and the take-over mage, how unexpected.
Unexpected, yes, but wrong? No. They looked so joyous, so happy. She wouldn't think of being the one to separate them both.
But that was years ago. Now, Lucy is fine with just being their friend.
