Valentine's Day One-Shot entry 5: Claude Faustus (Black Butler II)
DARKNESS
"Hello! Is anybody here?" you hollered as you entered the deserted cave. You had been out hiking with a couple of friends, but, the worse had to come to the worst, and here you were, lost and alone. It was getting very dark outside, and you had decided to look for the camp in the morning. 'Let's just spend the night in a cave or something,' you thought.
Though it may seem damn stupid to ask whether somebody would inhabit a cave, of all places, you still thought it was the most plausible thing to do. And you were proven right.
Something did inhabit this cave. You realized this as soon as the light of the full moon poured in through the gaping mouth of the cave, on to a complex network of thin wires, forming a mesh all over the cave.
It was some sort of a giant spider web.
You had a serious case of arachnophobia, and by no means were you staying in this cave if it meant sleeping with the threat of a tarantula appearing at your feet. Hell, no. You nearly exited before a hand clamped down on your shoulder. You were about to scream when you realized that spiders don't have hands.
"Miss (Y/n), what are you doing in a cave such as this?" asked a deep voice. You flinched at the mysterious voice resonating off the walls of the cave.
Confused as to how the stranger knew your name, you turned around, about to ask him if he was a stalker or something, when your jaw dropped to the ground. Before you stood a refined man, in tailcoat and all, looking at you with a stoic expression. He was glaring with golden-yellow eyes, shining behind a pair of negligibly-rimmed glasses.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know that you were occupying this cave…I was just looking for some place to spend the night! I got lost, you see…" you were confused at what to say.
Claude Faustus' expression remained as stoic as ever as he introduced himself to you, carefully avoiding any questions that you asked. Starting with the fact as to how he knew your name.
"If you want, you can stay in this cave. I'll be here for tonight, taking care of some business. However, there are no other spiders in this cave." He cleared your fear, after you mentioned it to him. You were stricken with fear as you noticed him lick his lips, but very subtly so.
But what exactly did he mean by any other spiders?
