"…but Remus, everything's ok now!" Tonks yelled "It doesn't matter to me! There are more important things to worry about!"
"I'm a MONSTER!" Remus yelled back, turning again to walk away
She grabbed his arm "No. You have an illness." Her eyes blazed "And you can control the symptoms each month with a potion." She softened and slackened her grip on his arm "You can't be a monster because you've never infected anyone."
"I could. That's why I need to stay away from everyone, especially you. I don't want to hurt you."
"You won't."
"I'm surprised I haven't already." He snarled and walked away, wrenching his arm away
Tonks recoiled at the tone of his voice. She had to tell herself, it was nearing the full moon, he needed a little more understanding around this time. She started to follow him again. She was shocked when he stopped of his own accord.
"Nymphadora. I am warning you for the last time. STAY AWAY!" Remus did not turn to look at her "I hate this, but it needs to be done."
"No it doesn't. Come back, you need to take the potion." Tonks pleaded, ignoring the 'Nymphadora'
"I said NO!" He turned and growled at her, grabbing her arms and shaking her "When will you see sense? Why won't you just leave me alone and hate me like everyone else?"
"Because I can't. I can't hate you." She sobbed and blurted out "I love you."
"Dora." He sighed "You can't love a monster, like me. It's not healthy."
"You are no monster." Tonks said firmly
"I am. How can you love me when I could kill you and not know it until it was too late?" He said, softly "You deserve more. You deserve better."
"I don't want better. I don't want a 'Mr. Right'. I'd find him boring." She pulled a face and her hair flashed a dull brown, and returned to the blue and pink stripes it had been before. "If there was a completely perfect guy right now, offering me the world, versus you, the werewolf trying to get as far away from me as possible- I'd pick you, every time."
"You won't get a happy ending with me. I could turn you. I don't want that." He said, sadly
"Well then, you'd have someone to keep you company when you transformed." She stated simply "And as for the happy ending, who says I want any kind of ending at all?"
He gave her an odd look. "You're an odd one." A ghost of a smile resounded in his voice
"You didn't get that from the technicolour hairstyle?"
He laughed. She smiled and pulled him inside. "Persistent too." He said as he took the steaming goblet she poured for him.
"Yup." She grinned proudly "Really annoying, according to mum."
He laughed again.
"It's nice to hear you laugh. Ever since Sirius-" She fell silent and the two silently remembered their favourite memories of the fallen man. "By the way," Tonks said, breaking the now quite awkward silence "DON'T call me Nymphadora!"
"I thought you'd overlooked that." He smiled wryly, glad for the distraction from his memories
"I never do. I simply-" She paused, searching for the right word "Postponed the reaction to a more appropriate time."
He looked incredulously at this. "Mad." He said, shaking his head "Absolutely mad."
"Well then. We make a right pair." She grinned "A Madwoman and a monster."
