Well, here I am again. I know that I'm behind on Unexpected, and a couple of other things, but oh well. I'll get to those when I'm ready, when I have something substantial to work with. Recently I've been reading the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa - to all of my readers from other fandoms - and I've been completely sucked in. Once I started, there was no escape. I've only read the first two books, so for those of you who have read book three, or even book four, please don't spoil anything!

This is for Ash and Meghan, unintentionally from Ash's point of view. My co-author/Beta Reader/bestfriend has assured me that he is in character here, but I'm still iffy. The setting is a New Year's Eve party, in my mind hosted by Grimalkin - he seems like a party kind of cait sith - and the song used - as well as danced to, in the case of Ash and Meghan - is Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra. Also, I hope you can forgive the short length and the abruptness of the ending. I just felt that that is where this drabble should have left off.

DISCLAIMER: I own neither Ah, Meghan, and the Iron Fey series, nor the song used. Materials go to their respective creators.

Enjoy.

Strangers in the night, exchanging glances

Wondering in the night

What were the chances we'd be sharing love

Before the night was through

She was beautiful. The moment I set foot into the party, my eyes found her, drawn by force. She was light itself, sparkling gold dress and white hair. Her eyes were the brightest blue imaginable - summer skies, deep seas, forget-me-nots - and they were looking back at me.

Something in your eyes was so inviting

Something in your smile was so exciting

Something in my heart told me I must have you

The blue pools of magic that looked at me were so inviting, and the slow smile she gave me was so exciting, that I could only go to her. Something inside me, deep in the recesses of my icy heart told me to get to her, to take her hand. It told me that I had to have her.

Strangers in the night, two lonely people

We were strangers in the night

Up to the moment when we said our first hello

Little did we know

Love was just a glance away

A warm embracing dance away

We were strangers, she and I. A mutual friend had brought us here, but we knew not each other. How I had never crossed her path was a mystery to me. I could sense a common factor between us, a distinct aloneness. I had the small hope that she might have been as lonely as me, and that she would recognize this similarity.

"Hello," I said, raising my voice over the music yet still keeping it soft. Her blue eyes gleamed and I found myself being reeled into them. Her pink lips turned up in a warm smile.

"Hello," she replied. Her voice was gentle, a light tinkling noise that flipped my stomach over itself. And something happened then, that I could not explain fully. I only knew that, in the brief second that she had spoken, she was the one.

This lovely creature had so easily taken my heart - thawed it in the blink of an eye and snatched it up. And I was filled with light, warm and pure and weightless. I sighed softly and held out my hand to her.

"Would you dance with me?" I watched her closely. She felt it, too. My heart, newly alive, skipped and stuttered. She smiled radiantly, placed her tiny hand in mine.

"Yes."

It was done. I closed my fingers over hers and whisked her away.

And ever since that night, we've been together

Lovers at first sight, in love forever

It turned out so right for strangers in the night

And there you have. Reviews are welcome, but refrain from flaming. I have no use for lack of manners. If you have advice or constructive criticism to offer, please do it politely. I would really love to hear from you.

Until next time, dear readers.
