Ever Diminishing Breaths Doesn't Help the Situation

Sam's P.O.V.
Hours had passed and Sam was worried sick as he searched for his older brother in the old cave. With no light and no way of knowing where he had already been, Sam was losing hope of ever finding Dean.
Sam had ventured further and further into the cave and could feel the effects of the dead air that drifted in his path. If he went much further his lungs would undoubtedly collapse. There would be no rescue for either brother and they would be left to suffer their greatest fear of dying without each other. Where are you Dean?
Dean's P.O.V.
While retracing steps, Dean tried to recall the last time he had seen his younger brother. His heart ached and his stomach had dropped as he pushed away recurring thoughts of what might have happened to Sam. His brother may be a grown man, but that didn't make Dean worry any less about him.
Darkness blinded and silence mocked him as he searched. Air was becoming heavy and almost toxic the further he went into the treacherous pit of the cave. Dean leaned against the rocky, wet wall of the cave and allowed his body to collapse to the ground.
