Here's yet another fic. The prompt that my friend Elisa picked was "seize the day." I guess it's fairly obvious that I would use Carpe Diem then. xD Anyways, I don't own NCIS...
Carpe diem. Translation: seize the day. It was so simple, but yet so complex at the same time. He could seize the day, and show her his feelings, but yet he couldn't. He couldn't just grab her by the arms and kiss her while they were at work. He had to restrain his feelings and stay calm.
Tony DiNozzo wanted to seize the day, but he couldn't. He wanted to show her how perfect she was, how much he loved her, but the rules at work wouldn't allow him. Quite frankly, Tony didn't want to risk his job. Yes, he loved Ziva David, but he couldn't risk his job.
That is, Tony couldn't risk his job while they were working. He could possibly show her how he felt, he could seize the day, outside of headquarters. For five years, Tony had been waiting for the right day to seize, the right day to express his true feelings.
That day finally came. The day was nothing special; it was just a regular October day. The sun was shining, but it was a deceiving sight. The wind whipped the trees around and left the agents shivering in their shoes.
They were out and about, investigating a new murder case. McGee left to take pictures of the crime scene, leaving Tony and Ziva alone. Gibbs was talking to the police officers on the scene. DiNozzo knew that he didn't have a lot of time, but he knew that it was the right moment.
"Carpe diem, Ziva," he said, looking over at her with a smirk playing on his lips.
Ziva looked at him, confused. "Carpe diem?" she asked.
"Seize the day? How have you not heard of carpe diem?"
"I am not used to all of the sayings, Tony. You know that."
"But you've been here five years!" Agent DiNozzo shook his head and then continued. "Seize the day, Ziva."
"Seize the day for what?"
"For this," Tony replied, walking over to her in two steps. Tony towered over Ziva, studying her face. It was now or never; he had to do it.
Ziva looked up at him, a playful smile gracing her lips. "For wha-"
Tony cut her off, his lips crashing onto hers. Tony placed his hand on her cheek and pulled her closer to him, relief washing over his body. His thumb stroked her cheek unconsciously, and Ziva kissed him back, just as passionately.
Ziva pulled away a moment later and Tony looked down at her, a giant smile covering his face. "Seize the day, Ziva," he said, taking a step back and returning to collect the evidence.
After five long years, Tony had finally seized the the day.
