A/N: This is a one shot of Horatio and Calleigh reflecting over the past year of. I hope you enjoy

Happy New Year

Horatio was sitting on the back porch looking out at the night sky, Calleigh, who had been watching Horatio, walks out and sits next to him. They sit there in silence for a few minutes, than Calleigh turns to Horatio:

"What are you thinking about?"

Horatio continues to look out,"I was just thinking about the past year and everything that has happen."

"I thought so." Calleigh looked up at the sky, the stars were shining very brightly.

"This year was very eventful year, it brought many changes, both joyful and heartbreaking."

Calleigh nodded her head, she knew where Horatio was heading. Horatio continued,"With the team we lost Alexx, leaving a huge void."

"Yes, I miss her too Horatio, but you know why she had to leave."

"I need to start taking care of the living Horatio." Horatio repeated the last words Alexx uttered to him before leaving the crime lab.

"Yes she wanted to start focusing on her family mainly her children, you should know something about that Horatio." Calleigh turned her body towards Horatio.

"yes I do," Horatio paused as Kyle came into his mind, he quickly changed the subject,"This also was the first year I had taken a bullet."

"Let's not talk about that." Calleigh gave Horatio her best serious face.

"I know you don't want to talk about it, but it is apart of 2008 it's worth mentioning."

"Technically hun, you faked your death so you knew the bullet was coming. There was no element of surprise."

"I faked my death for my son, I took a risk to get Ron Saris and it resulted in the safety of Kyle. That was the highlight of my year."

"Well the only thing I have to say about that it, the next time you want to save your son's life, don't have yourself shot." Calleigh was serious.

"What about the Evil Private investigator or the many felons who believed that they could take down a crime lab. We saw a lot of those this year." Horatio laughed, trying to lighten the mood.

"We did see a lot of those, what about Stetler trying to be nice for once." Calleigh joined in laughing.

"I wasn't expecting that one."

"Well you know Horatio, maybe he has some resolutions for the new year to be much nicer and he was just practicing that day."

"That would be scary."

The two continued to laugh, Calleigh calmed down to ask Horatio a question:

"Do you have any regrets about this year?"

Horatio grew quiet, thinking about his response,"No, all the things I have done this year helped others live their lives. This year was major for me and it brought about a lot of personal changes for me, these personal changes I wouldn't trade in for anything in this world, I have no regrets about 2008."

"Well said Horatio."

"5,4,3,2,1 Happy New Year," Kyle shouted from the living room.

"Well Calleigh I guess it's 2009, happy New Year." Horatio raised his wine glass to toast with Calleigh.

"Happy New Year Horatio."
