Mosquitoes Are Nature's Vampires
A party was held at Martin and Faye's, and everyone—with the exception of Faye, Bubbles, and Momo—had (at least slightly) altered their consciousness in some way; including May and Pintsize, who were basically cross-faded on apps that simulated the respective experiences of being drunk and high. Tai, who preferred smoking weed to drinking alcohol, had a bong in her hand, in place of a beer. Her free arm was wrapped around Dora's waist.
"No way," Dale said, "is Gundam better than Evangelion."
"I mean, Eva's good, but—"
"'Sup, weebs?" May interrupted, sauntering up to the arguing couple.
"Dale's trying to say Eva's better than Gundam."
"Oh, man... This is the kinda shit that can make or break a relationship, right here," she said sarcastically, causing Marigold to roll her eyes.
"I'll get it," Emily called in a sing-song voice, making her way toward the door, which was knocked upon in an obsessive-compulsive pattern. "Hey, Hannelore," she greeted Martin and Faye's neighbor, who also happened to be Emily's co-worker. "Winslow." She stepped aside to let in Hannelore and her AnthroPC. "Want a beer?"
"Yes, please." Winslow hung back with May and Momo, while Hannelore followed Emily into the kitchen, where Martin and Claire, were replenishing the snacks. "Thank you," Hannelore said, accepting the drink that Emily had just grabbed from the fridge.
"Oh, hey." Martin smiled. "I was starting to think you might not show up."
"Yeah, sorry I'm late." Hannelore paused to sip her beer. "I had to finish disinfecting my apartment."
"It's cool."
"Did you know there are more than three-thousand, five-hundred species of mosquitoes in the world?" Emily interjected. "And only so many of them actually bite."
"Why would any of us know that?" Claire quipped, grabbing a handful of chips from one of the bowls.
"Mosquitoes are nature's vampires." Emily thought aloud.
