Severus has cancer and there is no cure, except for experimentation. Harry loves his husband, but what will he do if the cancer takes ahold of him? A poem depicting the tragic love story between Harry and the dying Severus.
I look into your gleaming eyes
Filled with hope and love and trust
Knowing that you're being sent to get slaughtered
Yet, you continue because it's your last chance
And you take it gladly.
I whisper with the softest tones
Knowing you're too weak to respond
I love you, my darling
You smile, yet pain courses through your tainted veins
My lips touch down onto yours in the gentlest of kisses
As I say my goodbyes and farewells to the only love I know
They force me out like I'm a menace to your life
Little do they know, I'm your guardian angel
My job is to protect you at all costs
Yet, I fail and continue to lose
I yell and scream, wanting to reassure you
I'm here, my love
And I see the faintest of smiles as your eyes drift shut
And you exit this realm to that of darkness
The doctors spend too much time on you
And my heart stretches its wings as it soars
And flies and flaps its wings to my throat
Lodging itself as the tears form on my abused eyes
Finally, they come out and I release the air building up
Just as I express my relief
I plunge into the fire and the effervescent consequences of sin
They tell me it went wrong, yet how can it?
They tell me to say goodbye, yet how can I?
I open the door, as my eyes stray to your mangled body
Being held alive through artificial means
Covered with tubes and wires living for you
I sweep the hair from your closed eyes
As I promise to stay and never lose hope
I press my lips, using the softest of touches
Against your forehead, your cheek, your closed eyes, and your chapped lips
Giving you life through my love and hope through the tears
I wipe my red eyes and say your name
"Severus, please."
Yet, the demons take no mercy as they watch my demise
The alarms start blaring as your life slips away
The doctors rush in, trying to save you
Yet they know they can't, as they're driving on false hope
I stay at your side, your hand carefully wrapped in mine
As I whisper over and over again
I love you
The final beep echoes in the room
As the flat sound threatens to stay
The sobs wrack my body as I stare at your lifeless form
Why? Why dear God?!
Must you take away what little sanity and love I have left?
I clasp my hands around my middle trying to hold myself in place
As I feel my dreams and hopes crumble and crash down
Sorrow replaces the anger as my frenzied eyes halt on yours
I push myself closer to you, yet I know you're skies away
I fling myself from my demons as I utter my last few words
Before the everlasting fire pulls me away
The tears continue to fall down as I whisper and place my hand on your heart
I close my eyes as I imagine your laughing face filled with life and happiness
"Forever, Sev. Forever"
I smile as I say
Goodbye, my love.
