Soothing Kisses
Dan didn't notice when it had started, but looking back, it seemed like this had been happening forever. He liked that thought. Whenever he wasn't feeling well, whenever he was worried, or whenever he was depressed, Phil would always soothe him with a kiss — or kisses.
He remembered the mornings where he used to wake up, his will to live so small that he couldn't even drag himself out of bed. Whether he would be lying there in silent distress or crying in frustration, soon enough, Phil would knock gently on his door and enter quietly. He would sit on the edge of Dan's bed and gently rub his back, silent as a shadow. The silent comfort would soon morph into loving cuddles, and Phil would soothingly pepper him with kisses.
Sometimes the kisses would end within a minute, or sometimes it took an hour. But no matter how long it took, the only thing that would make Phil stop was a smile from Dan. (However, the kisses were obviously continued during their three hour breakfasts.)
As the time elapsed, however, Dan began to find it hard not to smile as soon as he felt the gentle weight of Phil on his bed. After a while, Dan began to meet Phil halfway. When Phil sat down, Dan would sit up, attacking his lips with thousands of innocent kisses. Dan remembered the first time it had happened; how Phil had gasped in surprise and they had fallen off the bed together, the kisses quickly melting into loving laughter.
Now it had become tradition. Phil would creep into Dan's room and onto his bed, where Dan would meet him and they would pepper each other with tiny kisses. It was blissful.
But this particular morning, Dan had a plan. He had set an alarm on his phone to wake him up at half past eight. Not that early, but he knew Phil would still be asleep. When he felt his phone buzz underneath his pillow, he all but launched himself out of bed. Sure, he didn't much like mornings, but as aforementioned, he had a plan. Slipping into the hallway, he crept over to Phil's room, easing the door open. Gently, he crawled into Phil's bed, lovingly kissing his sleeping form. Soon enough, Phil's eyes fluttered open, meeting Dan's chocolatey orbs. His mouth broke into a smile.
"Mmm," He hummed. "What's this?" His voice was deep yet soft, sleepiness floating on his words. Dan grinned before kissing him again.
"I just wanted to repay you for all the times you've done this for me." Wrapping his arms around Phil, he buried his face in his chest. "I love you, Phil. Thank you for giving me a reason to look forward to waking up."
