19 of September, 2989

It was a very nice day on the outskirts of Brandy Hall. There was little wind, the sun was high in the sky yet not as hot as it would be in summer, and the leaves were changing from green to yellow, gold, and orange. It was also nice to get out of the stuffy Hall where you couldn't run around or do anything. A lot of my cousins and friends had gotten sick and weren't up to playing yet so it had been boring the past week or so. That was until Uncle Bilbo came.

Uncle Bilbo was by far my favorite relative. Bilbo and I had always been close but after my parents died we became even closer. I loved when he would come for a visit. His visits were usually at holidays or our birthday, 22nd of September; it was just three days till our birthday. Bilbo had come three days earlier to spend a week with me. Right now Bilbo was sitting next to me eating one of the pastry's we had packed for our picnic.

"Frodo, I have a question to ask you." Bilbo told me.

"Go ahead Bilbo." I desperately wanted to know what he wanted to ask me, maybe he was going to take me on one of his journey's and I would get to meet Gandalf and Thorin and the other Dwarves. I would love that, to be on an adventure with him.

"Well, Frodo, I was just w-wondering if you would like to move to Bag End. You w-would have much more room to run around and it would be much calmer than it is here." Bilbo stammered out.

Now that wasn't what I was expecting. Bilbo wanted me to move in with him. That would be amazing, but what if I did something wrong, or Bilbo got tired of me, what then? But Bilbo had always loved me and had time for me. It would certainly be better than living in Brandy Hall.

Not willing to trust my voice at that moment, I did the one thing I could, hugged my Uncle tightly.

Bilbo let out a chuckle "I'm guessing that means yes?"

I nod "Of course, Uncle. Thank-you, thank-you." I couldn't contain my excitement to be living with my Uncle.

"Well then, we should go get your stuff packed, we want to be in Hobbiton by your birthday. I was thinking of celebrating there, not a big party if you don't want one." Bilbo explained while returning my hug.

"Oh, yes Bilbo, I shall go and pack right now." Quickly getting up I started towards Brandy Hal, hearing Bilbo's laughing behind me as he followed.

This was by far the best birthday present ever. I would be getting to live with Uncle Bilbo. For the first time since my parents drowned I felt like I had a parent figure that would always be there for me, no matter what. No one would ever be able to replace my parents, but Bilbo could get very close. I was going to get a new home with someone who would always care about me. For the first time in a while everything seemed to be okay.
