Achilles knew that the Capitol had been on edge for months now, eagerly anticipating the announcement of what this year's Quarter Quell would entail. Ever since the last Hunger Games had ended, all anyone could talk about was the next. You couldn't walk into any shop without hearing at least one pair speculating about the twist or the arena.

It was worse for Achilles. As Head Gamemaker, most people assumed Achilles knew what the twist was. They completely disregarded the fact that the cards were written 450 years ago, and that Achilles found out what the twist was at the same time they did. Achilles did know what the arena was, and it was a doozy. He had made the mistake of sharing it with his brother, who consequently revealed it to his wife and children. Sensing the issue, President Glory made a personal visit to the household to warn them not to share it any farther.

Achilles had gotten in a lot of trouble for that.

But now, the twist would finally be revealed and the pestering would stop. Achilles was sitting amongst his colleagues as President Glory stepped up to the podium. He was carrying a carved wooden box. Inside would be the twist. President Glory set the box down in front of the microphone and swiftly cleared his throat.

"Welcome, Panem, to the reveal for the twist of the 450th Hunger Games. We have had 449 Hunger Games so far, which is quite an impressive number." This sparked a series of cheers from the ecstatic crowd of Capitol citizens. President Glory forced a small smile. "For the 25th Hunger Games, the tributes had to be voted in by their own District to show that the Districts forced this upon themselves. The Victor was Apollo Tracks of District 6.

"For the 50th Hunger Games, the number of tributes was doubled to show that for every Capitol citizen who died, two District citizens died. The Victor was Laurel Pickins of District 2.

"For the 75th Hunger Games, the reaping pool was made up of previous Victors to show that even the strongest suffered. The Victor was Troy Pisces of District 4.

"For the 100th Hunger Games, the age was extended from 8-20 to show that everyone suffers. The Victor was Aric Stonewald of District 2.

"For the 125th Hunger Games, the tributes must be volunteers to demonstrate that everyone made sacrifices during the rebellion. The Victor was Casey Stanner of District 5.

"For the 150th Hunger Games, the tributes were only twelve to show that even the innocent were killed during the rebellion. The Victor was Kennedy Bugg of District 3.

"For the 175th Hunger Games, there was no Victor to demonstrate that the Capitol has complete control over everything.

"For the 200th Hunger Games, the children of the Victors were reaped to show that everyone suffers because of their ancestors. The Victor was Jeannette Murphy of District 12.

"For the 225th Hunger Games, the reaped were replaced with a relative to show that the Districts can't depend on anyone. The Victor was Tobias Barker of District 7.

"For the 250th Hunger Games, no volunteers were allowed to show that no one could escape their fates. The Victor was Angeline Trancer of District 8.

"For the 275th Hunger Games, the tributes were hand-picked by the escort to show that the Districts are controlled by the Capitol. The Victor was Edwin Bronze of District 5.

"For the 300th Hunger Games, the tributes were all prisoners to demonstrate that there are consequences to the Districts' actions. The Victor was Linus Parker of District 9.

"For the 325th Hunger Games, the Reaped will choose one person to replace them to show that this is the Districts' fault. The Victor was Elias Gem of District 4.

"For the 350th Hunger Games, the reaped tributes were parents to show that everyone suffers. The Victor was Maxwell Eden of District 5.

"For the 375th Hunger Games, all the tributes were handicapped to show the Districts that they would be helpless with the Capitol. The Victor was Annabelle Shane of District 1.

"For the 400th Hunger Games, four times the amount of tributes will be reaped to honor the 4 centuries of Hunger Games. The Victor was Elaine Montgomery of District 2.

"For the 425th Hunger Games, the tributes are reaped from the top-scoring students in each District to show that even the smartest can't escape the Capitol. The Victor was Diana Jupiter of District 5."

Finishing reading the previous Quarter Quells, President Glory slowly opens the wooden box and brings out a slip of paper. Everyone stops breathing as he unfolds it at a tantalizing pace.

"The 450th Hunger Games..." President Glory smirks. "Will be read during the Tribute Parade."
