I'm Sorry

I looked at her in the eye

And said it by and by.

"I'm sorry, Mom." I said.

But I really don't know why.

I went up to Dad.

Hugged him on the head.

"I'm sorry, Dad." I said.

But that was a lie I made.

I cradled little brother.

He was still a little boy.

"I'm sorry." That's what I said.

But I knew it was all a ploy.

Now as I sit on the bunk

And think of what I've said.

I now realise I chose to live

A life full of hate.

There is not much time,

But I chose a life of crime.

Ran away from home.

Took every little dime.

"I'm sorry, now." I say.

And I really do mean it.

But it's too late now.

Because my folks are all dead.
