The Legend of Zelda: Zant's Return

Prelude

I swore when Epona bucked me off. She just wasn't acting right lately. "Liiinnkkk! Come on! I'm closing the gate for the night," Fado called.

"Alright, alright," I muttered and jumped up onto Epona and rode her to the gate.

"Oh no, Ilia's waiting for you outside. Epona doesn't look too good. She's gonna claw you up for that," Fado laughed.

"Great," I muttered and rode out the gate and tried to go past Ilia, but failed.

"What did you do?" Ilia yelled. "Epona looks horrible!"

"She's been out of sorts lately, she keeps bucking me off!" I yelled back.

"Maybe because you overwork her!" She muttered. "Get of her. Now!" I rolled my eyes and jumped off Epona. There's no arguing with Ilia. Ilia toke Epona and walked off. I groaned. What is with Ilia and stealing my horse? I ran to the Ordon Spring, and saw the gate was locked. I turned around and jogged to the secret passage and got on my knees and crawled through the hole. I stepped out of the hole, brushed the dust off and walked over to Ilia. "Can I please have Epona back?" I asked Ilia.

She sighed. "I guess, Just don't overwork her, okay?" she pleaded me.

"Okay, I won't overwork her," I promised. Ilia handed me Epona's reins.

"Take care of her," She said.

"Don't I always?" I asked lightly. Ilia rolled her eyes. I jumped onto Epona and started walking toward the gate." Can you unlock it?" I turned to look at Ilia.

She sighed again."Alright." she walked over and stuck the key in its slot.

"Why don't I have one of those?" I wondered.

"Because," was all she replied. I just shook my head, letting my hair fall into my eyes. I brushed it out of the way and rode Epona forward. She stopped and bucked me off again."Epona! What's the matter?" I groaned. She reared up and whinnied looking at the locked gate that leads to Faron Woods and Hyrule Field, like she sensed something was coming. Nobody has been out of that gate since I brought the children home from Kakariko Village after Midna broke the twilight mirror forever. I was standing there when Midna said, "Link... I...see you later." Her tear shattered the mirror of twilight. After she said that to me she ran up the steps and disappeared into the twilight realm forever. After she left I toke Princess Zelda back to her castle and I went and toke the kids back home. It's been almost 4 years since. I shook myself out of the flashback and looked at the sky, I thought I saw a faint black dot materialize near the desert. But only for a moment. I shook my head again, thinking that I was seeing thing from Epona bucking me off. I got up and grabbed Epona's reins and muttered, "Fine, if you won't let me ride you, I'll just walk you." I started walking toward my house, slowly dragging Epona behind. I stopped outside my house and let go off Epona. I ran back to Ordon Spring and grabbed a piece of a plant and ran back to my house. I stood in front of Epona and played her song from the plant. She calmed down a little bit. I walked her to her spot and I turned around and walked up the ladder to my house. I groaned from the pain from constantly being bucked off of Epona. I walked over to my bed and collapsed onto it, falling asleep instantly. I woke up later in the middle of the night to Epona making a lot of noise. "Remember me?" I looked up to see a black form floating above me.

"Ahhh!" I yelled and fell off the bed. I reached for my lantern, fumbling for a bit, then turned it on, looking back at the stranger. "M-Midna!"
