Chapter One

Pit

This is my first attempt at writing any sort of fanfiction and I haven't written anything in months. Whatever advice anyone can give will be most appreciated.

Pit awoke with a sharp pain in his head and a stiff back, his body felt like it had been turned to stone.

"Where am I? What is this place? I can't remember anything."

He searched around, frantically looking for something to trigger his memory, but he had no such luck. He was in some sort of forest, definitely not where the young angel would usually spend his time. He tried harder to remember what he had been doing before he ended up here.

"What am I doing here, and where exactly is here?"

He still couldn't remember a thing, it was if his mind was covered in a thick haze.

He turned his attention onto these strange new surroundings. This place didn't look like anything he had ever seen before. The trees were exceptionally tall, and their bark had been twisted and disfigured in such a way that made them more menacing and terrifying than he had previously thought a tree could be. As he examined the trees closer he saw that they were covered in long, sharp torns and he made a mental note to not let himself get to close to them.

Suddenly a loud boom shook the forest, and Pit was flung backwards, landing with his face inches away from the thorny back of a particularly large tree.

"What in the name of Palutena was that!?"

He quickly set off to the skies, flying for what felt like forever until he reached the top of the forest. He scanned around for any sign of where the boom came from, and suddenly he heard another. However this one was unlike the previous one. It seemed that it was, in fact, a deep voice bellowing across the land.

"Hello my young hero. I can see that you are confused about what exactly is going on here. You have no reason to worry, for I am here to help you.

Pit frantically searched all around for the source of this voice, but he could see no one.

"Your memory of the past few weeks are no longer with you, as you can surely tell. You were ambushed by a group of other warriors, or Smashers as the call themselves, and they stole your memories from you. Do not trust anyone, for the Smashers are notorious for befriending their enemies, and then tricking them and stealing the rest of their memories. If you can find your way to my castle, I will be able help you further. Good luck."

A flash of blue energy covered the sky and travelled down to the ground, creating bubble of light that trapped sealed Pit. Although it was a large bubble and there were many miles of land and water inside, Pit didn't like the idea of being trapped. He flew to the top and swung his sword at the bubble, hoping to pop it. Instead, energy shot through his body and he plummeted back down to the surface of the Earth, hitting tree after tree on his way down.

Thankfully the trees broke his fall and landing back on the ground wasn't as painful as the thorns currently lodged his body. Carefully, he removed them one by one, until finally they were all out and he was a bit sore, but more or less okay.

"Okay, so the voice said that I needed to find his castle in order to get my memories back. I think it's time for a little search and rescue."

He spread his wings and tried to fly back into the sky, but they had been fried to a crisp.

"Looks like I'm going to have to walk from here on out. This is going to be a long trip."

Worried about his wings, and his lost memories, Pit set off into the forest. He was to preoccupied in his on thoughts to notice the shadowy figure that was slowly stalking as he trudged on.
