The Diary of Theresa Crawley: The Nature of Passion

Foreword

Foreword by Dr. Charlotte Renee Donald, a parapsychologist and leading researcher in the field of supernatural phenomena in history and it's continuing presences in the 21st century. Holding undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in psychology and history, Dr. Donald has led extensive projects and studies on such topics as near-death experiences and the existence of vampires. Multiple of her studies have been published in journals for other academics to read, such as the Journal of Parapsychology and the Journal of Near-Death Studies.

The following diary made its way into my possession through a bout of good fortune as I perused the shelves of a quaint book shop, located in the heart of London, that I chanced upon certainly by misdirection. The shop seemed to me, almost stuck in the past as the far more modern, contemporary world, with its technological advancements and heightened medical knowledge, rushed by just outside its front doors.

I was sure I'd stepped back in time as soon as I crossed the threshold.

The diary itself was not much bigger than my hand, squished and folded between two, much larger books. The leather bindings were creased, and well-worn with its age, and the pages were tainted yellow and reeking, as all old books do, of the musty grips of age and decay. The date itself was enough to push me to purchase, for the era was of particular interest to me, especially that of personal experience.

The shop owner, a most disagreeable man with a sour expression marring his wizened face, and a brusque disposition, claimed not to have even known of its presence. This came as no surprise to me, for his shop, while adorably quaint, was also as disordered as if a child had thrown a tantrum in the middle of it while haphazardly throwing the books around.

He took a look at the diary and gave me a price. When I asked if he had any other books of the sort, his grey whiskers twitched irritably as if my inquiry was an inconvenience to him. He seemed to shamble around the shop aimlessly, and I wagered it was just to give the appearance of looking. By this stage, I was growing thoroughly fed up with his antics, and promptly left, diary paid for and in-hand.

Records of the owners of the Downton Abbey Estate do indeed verify the existence of one Theresa Crawley. An exhaustive search was conducted as to the accuracy of the details contained within the diary, and while some have been proven real, others remain shrouded in doubt.

The diary, recorded by the young Theresa Crawley, provides a tale full of dark natures and tumultuous passion, of mystery and wicked desires.

So I present to you, dear reader, the opportunity to decide for yourself whether the events of the diary truly occurred or if, instead, they make at the very least, an interesting read.
