Paranormal: Birth of a hunter
Chapter 1
The fire was blazing, the night sky glowed bright orange as the roof gave way. The woman began to run as the footsteps grew closer. She tripped throwing what she was holding onto the ground. The figure stood behind her loomed forward.
"Give me the child" said the figure, its words muffled.
The figure picked up the blanket and started to unwrap it…
Ray awoke from his strange dream to find that his mobile was ringing. He checked the caller I.D and instantly answered.
"Hey Ray" said the man down the phone.
"Hey Josh", Josh was Rays best friend and they had known each other since Ray had moved here when he was 4.
"Did I wake you?" asked Josh
"Yeah, it's fine though, I have a job interview in the morning so I best get some sleep"
"Alright mate, call me after the interview, I want to know how it went".
Josh hung up the phone. Ray checked the time on his clock; it was 2:00am. He had to be up in five hours. Ray rested his head on the pillow and after about ten minutes he fell into a deep sleep.
Ray awoke just before his alarm went off. He heard footsteps outside his room and on the stairs. He slipped on a pair of jeans and a 'Skillet' T-shirt and walked down stairs where 2 people were having a conversation about pets.
"We are not getting a pet and that's final, oh hello Ray dear, have a good sleep?" Asked the thirty two year old women.
"Had a weird dream but I guess that's from me being worried about my first job interview, why are you talking about pets?" questioned Ray.
"Jane is adamant that we are never going to get a pet, however I think it will be good for you and your sister" replied the man.
"Now Simon, it should be their choice whether we get a pet or not" said Jane.
Jane and Simon Freeman had adopted Ray when he was only four, He had been in a foster home since he was one and they just couldn't resist adopting him. Ray's fourteen year old half-sister Bethany ran down the stairs as if in panic, she grabbed some jeans, slipped them on and came into the living room.
"Mom, dad, I'm going to be sleeping at a friend's tonight" said Bethany, grabbing her messenger bag and packing her make-up into it.
"That much make-up just for sleeping at a friend's, what else are you doing, going to Danny's party?" questioned Ray as he slipped a shirt over his 'Skillet' T-shirt.
Bethany gave ray the finger and ran out the front door. Jane threw Ray his car keys and checked the time.
"Hurry up you're going to be late" said Jane as she hurried Ray and Simon out the door.
Ray got into his Chevrolet Cruze and pulled off the drive. Jane and Simon waved him off and a tear formed in Jane's eye.
