Given a chance
Prologue
Chance was lying on the steps of Roberts's orphanage her parents didn't want a girl so they named her, kept her for 2 years, and then decided to drop her at the nearest orphanage.
Neil Roberts was the owner of the orphanage but mike Clark was in charge of the 300 kids that lived inside. Around 3 o clock in the morning he walked past the entrance of the orphanage to get some food from the kitchen, when he heard a little cry coming from outside, so he opened the door and found a baby lying on the step wrapped in a blanket with the name chance stitched into it. He picked her up and carried her to his room. He cared for her like she was his own daughter he saw something special in this small little girl. He didn't know what it was but she was special and he was going to make sure she got to a good home.
One year later she was in a foster home of two people who seemed very nice. a month later he went to check on her, the parents acted like everything was great but he saw the look in chances eyes and knew something was wrong so he took her in the back room and asked her what was wrong. "They don't wuve me…. they only keep me for da money they get." Chance told him with tears in her eyes. "How do you know that, chance, did they tell you that?" Clark asked her. "n-no… but they keep me wocked in my room and only feed me once a day… and I-i-i heard Mr. smith talking on da phone saying that h-h-he would be getting the money soon and he couldn't wait to spend it on his new c-c-car." Chance said starting to really cry now. Clark could see she was telling the truth "ok sweetie I'm going to get you out of here ok stop crying and act like everything is ok and I will come back in 3 days to get you that's a promise, okay?" he said reaching his arms out to her. "Ok Mr. Clark but pwease hurry I don't wike it here." Chance said falling into his arms and wiping her tears on the sleeve of her shirt.
One year after chance was taken to another foster home she was iffy about it at first, but Clark promised he would come and get her if they hurt her. After a month he went to check on her again. When he got to the house chance was in her room sitting on the bed when she heard him come into the house she got up and slowly walked in to see him. as soon as he saw her he knew something was terribly wrong. When he went to pick her up to talk to her she cried out in pain he didn't know what was wrong. "Chance what's wrong?" he asked very worried. "Th-they…they …they beat me and b-b-burn me with hot things pwease take me from here it hurts so bad I'm scared pwease Clark pweeeeassseee.'' She pleaded sobbing heavily into his shoulder. "I'm taking you back right now you don't have to worry about anyone hurting you any more I'm going to take care of you I promise." He told her holding her tight but cautiously.
When chance turned 5 years old Clark gave her a small party in his room. He loved this little girl with his whole heart every day he loved her more and more but he knew he couldn't take care of her forever a orphanage was not the place to raise this beautiful little girl she had so much potential. so he looked day and night for a loving home for her when one day a short man with dark curly hair and kind honey-amber eyes walked into his office. "May I help you?'' Clark asked the man. "Umm yes I was wondering if I could adopt a young child around the age of five or so?'' He asked with sincerity in his voice. Clark thought for a moment... this man looks like he has a lot of love to give to a child… a child just like chance, maybe just maybe this was the home for that wonderful little girl who needs someone to love her so much.
