Just a short ficletthat delvesBoone and his mention of the babysitter he loved to torture, Teresa, in 1x19, 'Deus Ex Machina'.
Hee, enjoy.
He loves to make her suffer.
Up the stairs, down the stairs...
She always brings him what he wants, a smile on her pale face and a feeble cracking in her bones. He sees that she's tired, but pretends not to notice.
"Just one more thing, Teresa!"
Up the stairs, down the stairs...
She doesn't complain. She doesn't refuse. She doesn't even frown.
He hates it. He wants to know that she's suffering. He wants her to cry, scream. He wants her to run away and never come back.
She never does. So he has to come up with something else every time. A book, a video game, a snack. Anything to keep her moving.
"One more thing, Teresa!"
Up the stairs, down the stairs...
She hands him a glass of water, and he drops it on purpose, watching how it spills all over her pretty blue dress.
He knows she will yell at him now. She knows that she will call him names and promise never to return. He just knows it.
But she doesn't. She only smiles, that soft smile that makes his insides churn with hate.
"Oops," she says, as though it's her fault. He frowns as she picks up the cup.
"I want water, Teresa! I'm thirsty, Teresa!"
Down the stairs...
This time, she doesn't come back up.
After a while, he begins to think that maybe she really DID leave him. He eagerly eases out of bed and walks to the stairs, expecting to see her figure dramatically swishing out the front door like how they do in movies...
The door is closed. She's laying on the stairs. He wonders if she's sleeping, but her eyes are open. They are glassy, empty.
He can do nothing. Nothing...but scream.
As he watches the plane plummet to the ground, trapped inside, her face ripples through his mind.
Teresa falls up the stairs, Teresa falls down the stairs.
He knows what he will say to her when they meet again. He's known for many years. Just before the cockpit collides with solid earth, he whispers them, a smile on his face.
I don't need anything else, Teresa. You can go and sit down.
Reviews are always appreciated, of course.
