ALL I NEED
I can remember the wind in my hair, the feeling it brought me, the freedom.
I can remember. We were driving down the coast line. The roof was open. Haruka knows I liked it that way. Hotaru had had her head stuck out the window, like a dog, and Setsuna had abandoned her magazine – for once, to bring her in. I smiled to myself. Setsuna will always be a mother, wither she wants to or not; it's in her blood. Hotaru had finally brought her head into the car as Haruka was allowed to go a bit faster in the 50 zone. Hotaru looked a little down after the whole Head-in-car fiasco. Me and Haruka seemed to have the same thought as we both reached for the roof button. We were always on the same wave length, Haruka and me.
Haruka had just passed her driving test, officially. That was some afternoon, I remember. At least she didn't run into any of the inner Senshi; that would have been trouble in an instant. She said that she ran into Mamoru, but none of us believe her.
Haruka had taken us all for a drive, to celebrate her legal-ness, along the coast roads. It's everybody's favourite place to be. It's the wind and the sea that made it my favourite place, and because it's where Haruka first took me for a drive. I always liked that place. Haruka likes that place because of the roads. She likes the fact that they twist and turn, creating the illusion that they never end. She won't admit it though. But then, she doesn't need to. Hotaru likes the scenery – I can't say I blame her. And "Setsie" likes all the memories that this place has to us. It's where Hotaru first called us her parents. That means a lot to Setsuna. She never showed much emotion before then. She always rebuffed that fact. We all had something about that place.
But Haruka might not go there now.
As we were driving back to the city, we were laughing at Usagi's latest bad joke. She apparently reminds Hotaru of a Human Christmas cracker, can't say I blame her for that one. I remember a lorry came round a corner too fast. All I remember is screaming Haruka's name as she called mine, and then everything went red, then white.
I've woken up connected to some crazy looking hospital machine. I'm no longer living in my memories and am back into real time. I can't move my hand, or my whole body for that matter. I try to move my head, and thank God it works. I tilt my head to the left and see the door and I can see someone blocking the window in it. To my dismay, it takes me a moment to realise that it's Setsie blocking the window from Hotaru's view. Hotaru's innocent eyes.
I turn my head to my right and only see a pealing blue wall. No window to see outside or anything. How depressing. I turn my head to the door again, but I close my eyes before I can see anything that will make it worse.
I'm jolted awake, my eyes flick open. Haruka is kneeling by my side. I still can't move anything but my head, but I don't need to, not when everything I need to see is right in front of me.
