A/N: Would just like to point out the 'Butler' in this story is an OMC, not our beloved Domovoi, who would never do anything of this nature.
Artemis stared at the darkened ceiling, trying not to flinch from the 'embrace' that held him to Butler's chest. Even with an IQ off the charts, Artemis could see no feasible way out.
Mother is unwell. Father is missing. Artemis is not attending school. It's his abuser's job to follow him everywhere. Juliet, the only other person he sees regularly, is his abuser's cousin, and thus likely to ask him about the accusation instead of believing Artemis from the moment of disclosure. The house is a fortress, so calling the police is more likely to raise Butler's ire than get him out unharmed.
Even if the police were able to rescue him, with Mother unwell and Butler his abuser, Artemis would surely be removed by social services, and Artemis wasn't sure that would be better then the current status quo.
If only Mother were well...The fairies! Ask for a healing instead of gold when he caught one. Of course, such a plan would require Butler and Juliet to continue to think Artemis wanted the gold right up until Mother was actually better and capable of protecting him.
Sparing a moment's thought to how much simpler life would be if his original Butler, Juliet's brother, were still alive and therefore really protecting him, he began to ponder exactly how to appeal to the fairy.
