It might not seem so
Why I think Bruce didn't see Harley coming with the dagger in Harley Quinn's revenge, the Arkham City DLC. One-shot, AU with my OC, Alexandra Wayne, the lil sis of the infamous Bruce Wayne.
Bruce's POV (Duh!)
I jumped out of the fiery building, clutching onto Quinn, so she couldn't escape. I landed and let my grip come undone. She fell to her knees. 'You shoulda lemme die in there! Then I coulda been back together with….. Mistah J!' She started sobbing loudly. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and turned to Gordon. 'Where's Robin?' I asked him. His expression twisted into pained realization. 'I thought he was with you….' I turned back to the fiery building, studying every part of it my vision allowed. He could still be alive, maybe in one of the basement rooms… BOOM! Down came raining the building with another explosion rocking the surrounding area too. My expression fell. No, no, no, no, NO! Oh god, Tim…. I cursed myself for ever taking him under my wing. 'What did you do?' I asked Quinn, my voice dangerously calm. 'Now… Now you know how it feels, dontcha Bats?' She shrieked, straightening up, and putting her hand on her hip. I turned, staring back to the fire. Oh, god, it was just like him. Jason. All I ever wanted to do was make him a better person than he would have thought when he was a child. When he was sure he would be worthless. A criminal. I let him down. I was too late. She tried not to blame herself. Alex would blame herself again. She let him go alone. To save someone she let go alone, too. She always did. God, I was never going to get her out of this. What we're we going to tell Bobby? Hell, what would we tell Dick? How the hell am I supposed to carry on knowing I led another Robin to his death? How was I supposed to tell Dick, who just started to love Tim like his own brother, that he was dead. I heard someone jump up. I turned in time to see a bird-a-rang slam into Quinn's dagger gripping hand and she fell to the right. He looked as the bird-a-rang sailed back to Robin's gloved hand. 'So, you miss me?' 'Where are the cops?' I asked, refusing to let the sigh of relief that Tim was alive out, and maintaining the steely exterior. 'They're safe.' He said cocking his head towards the officers. 'My work here is done.' I said, grappling out of there. Only then did I sigh and programmed the Batwing to fly back to the Manor. Alex would be waiting, furious, even more at how I treated Robin.
