So this is my first poem, so no flames please! Also, the breaks between some of the lines represent stanzas (for some reason double space doesn't work). Anyway, read away! Constructive criticism is appreciated!

. . .

I didn't know what to expect,

I thought things would work out,

I thought that we could make peace,

But they have destroyed my ship,

Taken my friends.

I was wrong.

This year is hell.

I thought I came prepared

Now I've been proven wrong.

But I'll give them a fight they won't soon

Forget.

I've had enough

Of this Year of Hell.

Either we die,

Or we succeed.

Regardless, we'll get our people back.

We'll fight to the death,

As the Klingons might say,

And we'll end this once and for all.

This Year of Hell

Won't last forever.

The Doctor says

That I'm pushing this too far.

He may be right,

But I'm going to keep pushing until

This is all over.

The cost may be high,

And perhaps I'll regret this all later,

But I can't worry.

Worry won't solve this.

Worry won't stop

This Year of Hell.

The End is nearing

As I sit upon my chair on the bridge,

I wonder if anyone will ever

Remember these events.

I certainly hope I won't.

This is one year

I'd like to forget.

. . .

And done! Hope you all liked it! I may do more poems in the future, I'm not sure. Should I? Live long and prosper! :)
