Mistakes
Cephied Variable
Anko didn't know what was worse: that the Hokage didn't trust her enough to let her out of her holding cell yet, or that she was being watched by none other than that irritating, attention seeking, brown-noser Umino Iruka. As if it wasn't already embarassing enough that she'd beleived Orochimaru's lies in the first place...
No, no- the worst part was definitely the fact that aforementioned attention-seeking brown-noser felt the need to initiate conversation.
"Y'know, Anko- I used to think you were too good to do something so stupid."
And really- that was it. She was trying. She was trying so hard. She threw her arms up in the air and yelled.
"Okay- whatever. I get it! I stole your innocence, ruined your faith in people. I taught you that the world was full of duplitious, no good, evil, mean people that you should never trust and that everything is horrible and-"
"No," and Iruka reached through the bars and rested a hand on her shoulder to cut her off, "You taught me that everyone needs help once in a while. And that no one should ever be crucified for their mistakes."
Anko stared at the hand- and then at him- blankly for a few moments before chuckling and leaning back against the cell wall, a sardonic smile (but a smile none the less) plastered on her face.
"You know, Umino- someday you're going to make a really crappy ninja."
