(A/N: This has nothing to do with the Next to Normal song called "Perfect for You," but I decided to name this story after it anyways. Enjoy!)
Perfect for You
They are lying in the still, dark room, completely silent, when Nessa admits, "Sometimes I wish I could be perfect for you." It is so quiet that she's not even sure she said it out loud.
"But Nessa," Boq whispers, afraid to talk any louder than she did, "You're already perfect."
"But my…" Nessa begins.
"Yes, I know your legs don't work." Boq wraps his arms tightly around Nessa. "But who cares? I know plenty of people with two working legs who are nowhere as perfect as you."
"But…" Nessa feels the need to argue with Boq. There's no way she can be perfect—she's far from it.
"But what?" Boq asks. "You are perfect. I wouldn't change anything about you if I had the chance."
Nessa opens her mouth to disagree again, but decides against it. "You're perfect, too."
"Please," Boq says. "I'm not perfect."
"You are in my mind."
