Lelouch was born in 2005. Everything happened in 2015. In the story, it's 2022.
After Japan, now known as Area Eleven, was taken by the Holy Britannian Empire, a single town kept fighting, as they knew the superpower could never defeat them, despite with Britannia's expert technologies, this town… This city had something better.
Did this city have Superhuman warriors? Maybe… But they don't prefer to be called that.
Heartland City still had the Zexals, who were experts in the field of a single card game, and had allies in different dimensions…
The Zexals fought back, and eventually they made their city into a nation, simply called 'Heartland'. Many things changed within Heartland, beginning with the creation of the ability to fully use Duel Monsters as a weapon of war by use of humanity's chaos.
The second thing that changed was the creation of monarchy within. They created an Emperor of their own, of whom was a fourteen year old boy with experience ruling a country.
Reginald 'Shark' Kastle, also known as Nash of the Seven Barian Emperors, became Emperor of Heartland, the other Zexals becoming Government Officials within the small nation.
The Mad General, a girl with 'insanity in her veins, but loyalty in her heart', who had returned from her own homeland, quickly joined with her fellows, becoming the High General of Heartland.
The Heir of Water also came to Heartland, becoming the heir of the nation, should anything happen to the surprisingly 'Immortal' Zexals.
And two years ago, the Lightning God arrived, still only fifteen, the age he had been when his sister, the Mad General, arrived in Heartland five years prior to that event. Weeks after that event, the Lightning God would fall under the Mad General's command as her second.
And then there is the story of Lelouch Lamperouge, a seventeen year old exiled prince of Britannia who was born in 2005…
However, this isn't the story of Lelouch… But rather, of the Zexals and this Parallel version of the world ruled by the powers of Geass and Chaos…

"Good point, Merag." Shark nodded, "Let's get going. We're supposed to meet with the Viceroy of Area Eleven, Prince Clovis."
"Yeah." The other barians nodded, and they began to walk.
"Hey, Merag?" Dumon spoke up, looking at the general.
"Yeah?" Merag looked over at Dumon.
"Are you sure G can handle ruling in our absence?"
