broken glass and jagged edges

The walls went up and the gates shut around her. Twisted and jagged, memories engraved in her mind that would hold fast until death overtook. Not death, but sleep. But there was no escape. No escape from those twisted thoughts and hateful swellings inside her. Her head hit the pillow and the scenes replayed in her head. Pain and screaming, sharp curves and bright lights, in a cacophony of silence.

Every morning she woke up in a blazing sweat, nightmare turned reality, and her hands shaking. She could never forget and never move on, and she hated herself for it.

"What am I, the bloody healer now?"

"Maybe"

"Well-"

"Don't answer that"

"I don't need a I'm making you captain now."

"No. That doesn't make sense."

"Sure it does. See, I can't so well be captain when I have been banned, so I resign."

"What ? Why? Bloody wanker, stop switching subjects."

"Just pretend for a moment."

"Pretend?"

"That this matters."

"But it does."

She did have to admit, her floor mate made a damn good leader. Kind and warm yet mischievous and sarcastic, she was a force to be reckoned with, and the Carrows would likely kill her for it. If she wasn't already herself- hiding behind her silly little quips, stripping away that which was keeping her, and laughing off the fact that she could barely see her skin underneath the bruises.

It was time for someone else to take a stand (preferably someone without a giant target on her back and the word WEASLEY or POTTER'S GIRLFRIEND on her heart).

A triple-drabble (if that is a real term) featuring the friendship between Demelza and Ginny during HP-DH. This is a one-shot, but may be more to come (I cannot get Deathly Hallows out of my head). In part inspired by Thanfiction using pure dialogue for one of his stories. Brilliant.
