Does anyone understand the consequences of immortality? The boy thought to himself. Maybe it would be worth it if I had someone to spend it with. He cocked his head to the side, the picture of innocent confusion. Too bad everyone and anyone I'd want to spend it with has already crossed over. The small raven dangled his feet over the balcony railing of the astronomy tower where he had managed to get lost in his thoughts this time. The one who saved me damned me to live a torturous existence at the same time.
That's what he was; damned. Damned to walk the earth forever, no matter how screwed up it got. Damned to never love again. What's the point? Everyone he loved seemed to die saving the life that he never really wanted in the first place. He definitely didn't want it if he was alone. Alone in his wandering. Alone in his judgment of the human race. Worst of all, he was alone in reliving his memories. Just...alone. He leaned forward at a dangerous angle, looking at the ground far below him.
He leaned back again to glare at the sky with raised eyebrows and a challenge written in his eyes. Would you really do it? Would you really deny me the chance to have my family back again? To love? To hold? To cherish? Would you really deny me the release I so desperately crave? Would you force me to feel the pain of not being able to feel my lover's arms around me once more? Would you? Will you forever deny me the pleasurable pain of your company?
The messy locks leaned ever farther over the edge of the railing. In a split second, they became unbalanced and started to fall. He didn't even try to catch himself, spreading his arms and legs out like a starfish with a small smile on his face. He fell in bliss until, about ten feet above the solid ground, his eyes glowed red and he whipped into a position where could land on his feet. A split second later, the little raven landed in a crouch with a sickening thump. Tears gathered in his eyes as he murmured to the uncaring trees.
"I guess you would. Screw you then. I will wait for you forever to come claim me. I will find a way. And when we next meet, I will greet you like an old friend." The immortal stood with a twisted smirk on his face, finding the irony of his statement amusing. With that, he walked away. A lonely soul filled to the brim with agonizing memories and shattered hopes left to live alone.
