This is just a little story about some of that I saw during the last server smash. Specifically in the second half where we were being beaten. Yea we lost, but what of it? I'm sure the other servers have lost more than we have. We've just got to up our game and make sure they don't out maneuver us next time.
Regardless though if we could have done better, Well done to both servers. It was a really intense fight and that makes it all worth it. Winning or loosing.
They stopped in stunned silence as the message came over their coms, the unimaginable coming to pass.
Warp-gated...
They had been warp-gated...
Shoulders slumped as the fight left them, they all knew what it meant. They where cut off without supplies and reinforcements and ultimately, their chance of victory had slipped through their grasp.
Many just stopped, unsure of what to do now or too shocked to think. Others cried out in outrage at high command with whom they thought the blame lay. Some even talked about giving up, laying down weapons and surrendering or even leaving.
Their squad leader looked at his troops. He understood, he knew how they felt. The previously undefeated Briggs had just lost twice in a row and quite seriously too. But that was no excuse for this reaction. He shouted for silence and immediately the noise stopped, all eyes on him.
He told them that they where right.
He told them that they would probably loose.
And he told them that it didn't matter.
They would win some, they would loose many others. The fact that they had won every single fight till now was considered to be miraculous.
But...No matter what happened they would never give up. They would keep fighting because that's who they where and that's how they want to be known. As fighters through and through.
Silence lingered as his words set in. Men looked at each other, deep breaths where drawn and heads nodded.
Would they fight?
As one each Man and Woman in the squad squared their shoulders and stepped into line. He asked them if they where ready to fight again. They replied with an overpowering roar of Sir Yes Sir!
With their grim determination and renewed resolve they through themselves back into the fight and their will to continue the fight infected the troops around them, spurring them on to continue fighting.
This would occur on each of the battle fields around the map as Commanders and Leaders spurred their soldiers back into the fight.
No matter what. Fight on Briggs.
