For Sammie (MissingMommy), I really hope you enjoy it! Don't worry, your Kakashi/Gai is coming soon. *hearts*
Something just pushed him over the edge.
It rallied him, it broke him again and again, and he didn't know what it was but it reared its ugly head and shoved him far over the line of caring.
(That's a lie, he did know what it was, and it was spelled J-A-C-E and it was his adopted brother that he loved but didn't love him back.)
He just continued on with his life, uncaring, harsh, selfish, his heart in tatters and his mind screaming at him half the time and the other two quarters just laying there docility, a mindless robot. Every second spent in his presence made him ache and sob on the inside, but he just continued as he was doing, cold, unfeeling, angry, poisoning himself with every glance and conversation.
And then she came along (Her name was spelt C-L-A-R-Y, with her red hair and bright eyes, and he hated her every second of the day) and took him away and Alec wished she hadn't because even the terrible moments spent in his presence, entertaining the halfhearted 'as ifs' and 'what ifs', was better than knowing that they were the reality and his dreams were only just that- dreams.
But then, in the deepest pit of his dark misery, he met him. They were total opposites. Glittery, plain, light, dark, but they were both jaded in different ways and innocent in others that they drew each other in. Him with his cat like green eyes, Alec with his blue, he was important, always moving, always going somewhere and doing something, and himself… He was letting the 'never will bes' hold him down, trap him in place and drown him in their deep pits.
And his name was spelt M-A-G-N-U-S and for some reason he was fascinated with him, and he would always badger him, always flirt with him, making him blush and forget all of his troubles and for some reason Alec fell in love with him.
(He didn't know he did, as he thought he was still in love with J-A-C-E but he was merely attracted it turned out, as the glittery Warlock took that place in his heart, despite his halfhearted attempts of protest to stop it.)
He didn't know quite what to do.
Jace was always a 'never going to happen', only in the wildest dreams would they work out and Alec knew it, he knew it, he just didn't want to believe it. But with him- no, with Magnus- there was always a chance, always the possibility, and that possibility was looking brighter and brighter with every stolen glance and flirty wink.
(And then they kissed and it wasn't a possibility any more, it was reality, and Alec wasn't quite in love with Jace and more than likely in love with Magnus.)
He wasn't so angry anymore, or broken, and with every whispered 'I love you' his confidence boosted and he rose from the deep misery he put himself in.
(And maybe it wasn't quite a happily ever after, but it was the start of something like that for Alec and he wasn't going to let it get away from him.)
I don't own The Mortal Instruments.
Unbeta'd so really weird sentences but whatever.
