A/N: I don't own Harry Potter. And be nice. I wrote this in the way to early morning.

Sirius sat between his best friends at lunch, wishing he were anywhere but. Remus chatted passionately with Peter about their last Astronomy assignment while James stared dreamily at the red-head at the end of the table. Sirius really didn't understand what James saw in the girl. She was bossy and mean and to skinny to be really pretty. Sirius figured that if Evans ever actually said yes and did date James he would hang himself out of disgust.

And all to suddenly Sirius felt as if he were suffocating. He simply had to remove himself from the room. Away from James and the Evans girl. Sirius set his fork down forcefully and walked out of the great hall as quickly as possible.

Almost as soon as he made it out into the corridor he felt shake-y and weak in the knees. Sirius ran until he found an empty classroom to hide in. He shut the door with window shattering strength. He felt the vibrations in his legs as he slipped down the length of the nearest wall. He sat, knees drawn up to his chest until he was sure he no longer felt like he had a low blood sugar.

Sighing Sirius spread his legs out in front of him. He ran his hands over his face and through his hair repeatedly.

Outside of the empty classroom Sirius could hear his classmates walking to their after lunch lessons. He breathed out heavily and stud up slowly. Before opening the door he brought his hands out and watched them to be sure they no longer shook. They were as steady as the walls around him. Sirius sighed in relief.

Sirius began to turn the handle, but stopped when he heard James's voice. He grinned like a fool until he heard his friends words.

"Please Evans! Just one date!" He begged, causing Sirius to cringe and wish Evans would take a long walk off a short cliff.

"Like I would ever date an egotistical, pig-headed, immature, arrogant arsehole like you." Sirius could hear the hatred in her voice. He saw James's crushed expression in his minds eye. For a moment he wished Evans did like James so his friend didn't always have to be in a perpetual state of depression. But then Sirius remembered his head and how much of a twat the girl was. What he really wanted was for James to find someone who truly cared. Someone a bit like Sirius himself. Or just Sirius.

He tuned out the rest of their conversation until he was sure it was over. Sirius turned the door knob and glued a genuine looking smile to his face. When he walked back out into the world he looked around for one of his friends. Seeing Remus and James he sauntered over.

"Hello, mates." He grinned. Remus gave him an odd look while James just stared off in the general direction of were Evans must have gone. Sirius's heart imploded in to itself. He tried not to let it show on his face.

"Don't worry, mate. You'll get her some day." Sirius said, managing to make it sound genuine. The smile he got in response was enough to make him want to jump up and down with joy or just out of the astronomy tower. As he smiled back as he thought that being in love with your best friend isn't at all how romance novels or muggle films makes it out to be.
