The full moon shone brightly in the star-filled sky. All was silent, but for the occasional ripple on the water of the huge, black lake and the steady sound of deep breathing. Leaning against an old beech tree by the edge of the lake was a girl of about 17 years of age. She had been admiring the tranquil beauty of the sunset over the lake when her eyelids had begun to feel heavy and she had drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
Moments later, a pain-filled howl echoed throughout the previously silent grounds, causing bright emerald green eyes to open with a start. Blinking in confusion, eyes adjusting to the light, the girl looked around sleepily, confused as to what had awoken her. Pulling her auburn hair over her shoulder, she grabbed a branch above her head and pulled herself up.
As she rubbed her eyes, another howl ripped through the air. The girl jumped, looking around wildly for the source of the sound. Horror dawning upon her, she looked into the sky to confirm her suspicion. The full moon twinkled happily back at her as yet another howl met her ears, sounding much closer than it had before.
Frozen in spot by fear, she turned her head to the approaching sound just as a huge, four-legged creature collided with her body, sending her crashing to the ground, her head slamming against the ground. She watched helplessly as everything around her went black. It had become silent once more.
Author's Note - Written during a twenty minute study hall during which much boredom ensues. This is not all there will be. There will be at least one more chapter, possibly two. When can you expect the new chapter? Probably Halloween or so. If not, you'll have to wait for the next weekend (which is the more likely option). We'll see. Don't ask me questions about the content of the chapter, all will be answered in the next one.
