During her days at Fairy Tail, her mind often wandered back to him.
Scarlet.
The word was practically burned in her head. It brought joy and it brought pain. It was like a fork in the road; and Erza just decided to sit in the middle for the time being.
Erza Scarlet, otherwise known as Titania, belonged to the guild Fairy Tail, which she was proud to call her home. She worked hard to hone her magic and she achieved the rank of an S-Class mage, which was an honor. She also soon became pegged as Fairy Tail's strongest female wizard, and if you saw her magic in action, you would certainly know why.
Her magic was like no other. It was strong and versatile, it was hot-headed but also graceful and elegant, and yet somewhat calm. Her every move had definite precision; if the opponent did not move quick enough, she would have already swung her sword. Armor, blades, and swords were her specialty because she used requipping magic. She was a bit of a disciplinarian, but had a heart nonetheless. If you injured her loved ones or her cake, you would pay dearly. But then her mind always wandered back to him.
His name was Jellal Fernandes, and known as Siegrain to the Magic Council. During his early years, when he first met Erza, they were both so alike. They were both happy children and somehow still managed to b happy when they were taken to the Tower of Heaven as slaves. The whole thing was a torture machine. Its' workers were unhappy and deprived of food, and this tower was all for the resurrection of one incredibly powerful dark magic mage, whose name was Zeref. Once all the slaves there finally broke away form the horrid place, Jellal sacrificed himself to let Erza Scarlet go. Erza was lucky enough to escape and join Fairy Tail with the memories of the event and the name Scarlet. Jellal was not so lucky. In fact, after the revolt, he was possessed and began the project of rebuilding the tower. He said to the others that remained there that Erza left them for magic, and so they began rebuilding it.
That leads us to the present, where the Tower of Heaven is destroyed by Natsu, Erza is released, and Jellal is left alone, wondering what he should do. His life's work was destroyed for a good reason, and he was constantly trying to get the Rune Knights and Magic Council off his tail. He stopped in the middle of the forest, and thought to himself, " What have I done to Erza? I sacrificed her for something that was not right...I thought I was doing the right thing... What guild does Erza belong to again... Fairy Tail was it? Maybe I should turn myself in. I think it would make Erza happy. Maybe it would have made Erza happier if I didn't do this in the first place... I cannot blame my possession for making her so unhappy and for causing her so much pain...I'm sorry, Erza Scarlet... I never meant to hurt you. Now that I see clearly aand see that my intentions were wrong, I mean to atone for my sins. That is what I will do. Maybe I should see her one more time before I get locked up..."
Meanwhile, Erza was facing her own demons that day.
Scarlet.
"That's the last piece of physical evidence that links me to that tragic moment when I lost him... I have to get rid of it. I can no longer look at myself and to that tragic event. I'm going to keep my heart locked up like this. It's only right. I can't suffer any longer."
