Random Guy: Yes. Yes it would.
RedKatana: (Coughs and sweats a little before looking around nervously.) ...O.K. then...
Zero bit his bottom lip and ran towards Iris as he saw her fall onto the hard ground.
"Iris! Iris!" he said, shaking her by the shoulders, which caused her beautiful and silky auburn hair to jump up and down in beat with Zero's shaking. Her eyes started fluttering open, revealing her blue eyes that were so lush in beauty and color.
"...Zero..?" she asked, her voice faint and ailing as she looked up at Zero's worried and sad face. Just as she did that, Zero felt like something had just stabbed itself into his metal, non-beating heart.
"Hang in there, Iris!" he choked out, tears starting to come out of those bonny dark green eyes of his.
Iris closed her eyes at the sound of the concern, regret, and fear in Zero's voice. "Please... Stay away from the repliforce..." she said, knowing that Zero probably wouldn't listen to her, no matter how much she would beg him, and this was a fact that pained Iris a lot.
Zero bit his lip again as he tried to hold back his tears.
"..Let's... live together.. in a world where... only reploids exist..." she said, breathlessly.
Iris felt Zero's warm tears fall on her cheeks as Zero shook his head.
"Iris... there's no just for reploids... It's only a fantasy..." he said, grabbing Iris' hands with both of his hands fastly, which caused Iris to smile sweetly at him for a few moments.
Iris slowly closed her eyes again. "..Yes...I know..." she said, the pain in her voice becoming more and more obvious. She opened her eyes again to see that Zero was mouthing the words of something he wanted to say to Iris. Iris closed her eyes again and said, "But... " she paused, trying to find the right words to say to show how she felt. "...I wanted to believe it. I wanted to live in..." Iris paused again, but this time it was because of the pain she was in. "..a world where.. only reploids exists..." she opened her eyes again and smiled at Zero before whispering an attachment to her last sentence, "with you, Zero..." She sighed and closed her eyes again, but this time, it was forever.
"Iris! Don't leave me, Iris! Please! Don't leave me!" he screamed out, holding Iris' now, and forever, still body in his arms. He looked up at the ceiling and cried out, "No... This isn't happening! This can't be real! None of it! This is all just a horrible dream!" As much as Zero would have loved to believe that, deep inside, he knew it wasn't a dream. He looked down at Iris and choked out in a low voice, "If I can't even save the ones I love.. then.. what... what..." He trailed off, looking at the ceiling before he screamed out, "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR!?" and buried his head on his lover's stomach as he whispered loving affectionate words to her, who was, and is, someone who will never hear any of it.
