He felt like he was on fire. His old wounds remained untreated so the pain never really went away. The memory of what happened to him and his sister was forever burned into his mind, reminding him of everything he had lost. Sometimes, he would cry until his throat was raw and bleeding. During these times, water was scarce. His father obviously dismissed the fact that he was in complete agony. The man had put him down there, locked him away in the basement like some kind of animal.

After many cycles of suffering, he found himself growing to hate his father. With every passing day and night, the spark was eventually fueled into a raging wildfire. Something inside of him began to wither and die. He was no longer the young, innocent Ruben that everyone had remembered him to be. No, as his sanity gradually waned, he settled on a new identity. Henceforth, a passionate ambition awakened within his unstable mind.

One stormy night, he found a way out. And so, he fulfilled his desire to get rid of his father and although he held nothing personal against his mother, he did away with her as well. From then on, he was able to continue his research in exchange for a few generous donations to the local mental hospital. They provided him with new test subjects, and he would simply reimburse them with the manor funds of his deceased parents.

For once in a long time, Ruvik almost felt content.

But then, he remembered his goal and the pain came back tenfold—madness consuming him once again.
